Proceeds to Habitat for Humanity
Sunday, 07 March 2010 13:00

20% of the recent sale of Sunset over Laguna Chaxa from the exhibit at Teaism and an online sale of the greeting card featuring the same image were donated to the Habitat for Humanity International Disaster Response Fund.

I couldn't be happier to support such a proven and effective organization. An alum of the inaugural class of Habitat's AmeriCorps program at its headquarters in Americus, Georgia over a decade ago, I am proud to have swung my hammer for a year in support of its worthy cause - and equally proud that this little photo venture can continue to support it in whatever small way as Habitat assists the people of Chile in their recovery.

Please consider making your own contribution to the Habitat for Humanity International Disaster Response Fund or buy an Amidst the Andes print or Sunset over Laguna Chaxa greeting card to have 20% of your purchase go Habitat's way.

A little website tuning
Sunday, 07 March 2010 00:00

I've spent some time this weekend under the hood of this site, tuning it up to run a little faster and play a little nicer with Google and other search engines. For regular visitors, I hope you notice a difference. And for new visitors, welcome! I hope you enjoy browsing the photo galleries and glancing at the products and pricing!

Sunset sold at Teaism
Thursday, 04 March 2010 00:00

Sunset over Laguna Chaxa, Atacama Desert, ChileToday at Teaism, Sunset over Laguna Chaxa became the first photo to venture off the walls of the exhibit and find a new home. Thanks again to Teaism for partnering with me to donate 20% of this and other exhibit sales to Chile earthquake relief.

If you're interested in seeing the rest of the Amidst the Andes photo gallery, stop by the Dupont store at 2009 R Street NW just west of Connecticut Avenue. They're open Monday through Thursday from 8 am until 10 pm, Friday from 8 am until 11 pm, Saturday from 9 am until 11 pm, and Sunday from 9 am until 10 pm.

In the meantime, I'll be working to fill the newly vacant space with a new print!

20% of Chile sales to relief
Sunday, 28 February 2010 00:00

At 3:34 am on Saturday, February 27th, a massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake rocked Chile near the city of Concepcion, about 200 miles southwest of Santiago. My thoughts immediately turned to those I met while traveling there this summer and it became clear that I must do what I can to help.

As of now, 20% of all online sales of the Sunset over Laguna Chaxa card and prints from the Amidst the Andes series will be donated to disaster relief for the people of Chile. Teaism has also agreed to work with me to extend this 20% donation to all photos sold at the current Amidst the Andes exhibit at their Dupont location at 2009 R Street NW in Washington, DC.

Indeed, this is small but it is important to do what we can to help. Please consider making a donation to the relief effort. You can do so through the American Red Cross International Response Fund, Habitat for Humanity, or your preferred international relief organization.

Andes at Teaism
Tuesday, 23 February 2010 00:00

I just got back from Teaism at their Dupont location to hang Amidst the Andes, my second exhibit. It will run for one month, though, hopefully customers will take a liking to it enough to keep it around for awhile longer as happened with my first exhibit, Vietnam: Images of Work and Play, which was up through the fall and into December.

Stop by to see a collection of ten color photographs from the Amidst the Andes photo gallery.  The Dupont store is located at 2009 R Street NW just west of Connecticut Avenue.  They're open Monday through Thursday from 8 am until 10 pm, Friday from 8 am until 11 pm, Saturday from 9 am until 11 pm, and Sunday from 9 am until 10 pm.

While you're there, feel free to grab a salty oat cookie and a Chai tea.  Mmm!
